The Portfolio library can be backed up and restored from the configuration interface. Restoring a library completely replaces the contents of Portfolio, allowing you to replicate the same configuration across multiple iPads quickly. The backup file includes all of the configuration and files necessary to load in each one of the galleries and is bundled in a single package for easy transfer. The other iPads must also have Portfolio installed.
Library backups can currently be copied from the iTunes file sharing interface, uploaded to or downloaded from Dropbox, or downloaded using another app and opened in Portfolio if the other app supports an "Open with..." option. You are able to have multiple backups residing on an iPad from which you can load any one of them at a given time.
Backing Up or Restoring
Backup files serve two purposes: to backup your library and to allow you to easily clone one library to another iPad. To do either of these you'll need to first create a backup file and then copy it off of the iPad.
Creating a Backup
Make sure you have enough space to create the backup file. An estimate of the space needed is displayed below the backup file name field.
- Enter a name for the backup file in the text field at the top.
- Tap the "Backup" button and wait for Portfolio to create the backup file — this can be quick or take several minutes and depends on the size of your library.
Restoring from a Backup
- Tap the backup file in the list at the bottom to select it.
- Tap the "Restore" button and confirm that you want to overwrite the existing library.
Deleting a Backup
- Swipe to the left on the backup in the listing.
- Tap the "Delete" button to confirm.
Restoring from a backup cannot be undone. If you still need access to your existing library, create a backup of it first to restore from later.
